The countdown has begun for the 21st edition of
Art Basel Miami Beach, one of the most prestigious art events in the industry that concludes the annual fair calendar. From December 8 to 11 (with previews starting on December 6), the Miami Beach Convention Center will be the pulsating heart of the event, involving 277 galleries from 33 countries, transforming the city into a vibrant crossroads of art and culture. This year's edition, following a massive $640 million renovation of the Convention Center, promises to offer art enthusiasts an even more engaging experience. The fair will particularly highlight artists from the Latin American and Caribbean diaspora. In fact, Vincenzo De Bellis, director of fairs and exhibition platforms at Art Basel, spoke of an edition entirely focused on the "diversity of artistic voices and perspectives." There will be 24 galleries exhibiting for the first time in the American leg of Art Basel, coming from countries such as Egypt, Iceland, the Philippines, and Poland, further expanding the artistic horizon of the event.
Thus, the historic "Galleries" section will present 222 galleries of modern and contemporary art, featuring works ranging from painting to sculpture, installation to photography. The "Nova" section will host 22 galleries showcasing works created in the last three years. "Positions" will highlight emerging artists, while "Survey" will feature 17 galleries with works created before 2000. Joining the four divisions will be "Meridians," the section curated by Magalì Arriola, containing 19 large-scale projects. Italian operators will be well represented with the participation of Alfonso Artiaco, Massimo De Carlo, Cardi Gallery, Kaufmann Repetto, Galleria Continua, Mazzoleni, Galleria Franco Noero, Lia Rumma, Galleria Christian Stein.
To complete the city's cultural offering, there will be another 14 smaller fairs, a true record.
