Carrie Able Gallery

Carrie Able Gallery

Brooklyn, Stati Uniti

Carrie Able Gallery opened in September 2016, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York.
Showcasing the work of the renowned multidisciplinary artist, Carrie Able, amongst the most exciting emerging and established visual artists, the gallery is a creative space to foster local and global community. Pivoting between fine art exhibitions, educational resources, live performances, and experimental curatorial projects, work at the gallery continually reinforces a need for accessibility.
Committed to showcasing emerging artists from across the world, the gallery offers frequent free open calls for work. Selections for open call exhibitions are made exclusively in response to how the submission aligns with the theme of the show, with no consideration of CV or biographical information used in the selection process.
In addition to exhibitions, the gallery hosts an Artist in Residency program, temporarily transforming the space into a studio and workshop. The mission of the program encourages emerging artists to consider themselves as entrepreneurs in their respected disciplines, advocating for themselves, and the unique, individual voice they possess.
Culminating with an exhibition at the Brooklyn space, many artists who participate have the opportunity to exhibit in New York for the first time. As a result, past residents have gone on to exhibit internationally, and attend respected graduate-level degree programs through the mentorship of Able and the external educators invited by Able to advise participants.
While remaining a commercial space, Carrie Able Gallery is mission-based, dedicated to its relationship with the local community, and the expansive international network it has developed online. Carrie Able Gallery consistently pioneers new technologies, platforms, and resources for viewing and producing art.
More information can be found in the November 2020 Yahoo Finance feature, which describes the gallery as one of “New York's go-to places for creatives, poets, visual artists, and musicians to freely express themselves without fear of judgment or discrimination.”
