Florence Di Benedetto

Florence Di Benedetto

Florence di Benedetto was born in Bari in 1975, from a French mother and an Italian father, and at the moment she lives and works in Milan.

In recent years, her work evolved into the elaboration of portrait and metropolitan landscape and transfer techniques made with more traditional instruments, reflex and b/w film on canvas, and their successive interpretation in a pictorial key.

But it is with the series There is beauty in everything that the artist takes a step forward, overcoming the swarming of the city to land in a more everyday life, in a more intimate dimension, where everyday objects become themselves: symbols, domestic icons, within everyone's reach.

In this way, the artist winks even more clearly at pop culture, Andy Warhol and the commodification of the work of art. Far is now that typical trait of the New York urban landscapes of the first canvases, capable of evoking the concept of futurist space of Balla and Boccioni.

American culture reappears here in the form of ketchup or mustard bottles, Campbell's cans, bags of crisps or boxes of cereals, painted in acrylic or three-dimensional under the display case, which transport the viewer directly into a supermarket, a sort of 7 - Eleven, where it is not only possible to satisfy the desire of the moment, but also to buy and take home a pack of culture, or rather a jar of culture sealed and ready to use.

She exhibited her works in Solo Exhibitions at “Galleria 196” and “Il Sole Arte Contemporanea” in Rome and at “Fu Xin Gallery” in Shanghai.
